What is facial reflexology?
Facial reflexology is a deeply relaxing health therapy to the face. Under the guidance of a qualified Sorensensistem therapist, reflexology maps on your face are assessed to rebalance your health, relax your facial lines, and improve your skin – making you look younger and healthier! It is combination of massage and therapy techniques taken from Oriental, South American Indian and Vietnamese therapies, combined to help the bodies own healing abilities and energy flow.
Developed by Lone Sorensen a Danish Reflexologist who studied various ancient (from all over the world) and modern techniques over a period of 28 years to formulate this treatment. It has been recognised by Association of Reflexology.
This therapy works on many levels within the body and results obtained are of an organic, physical, chemical and neurological nature. It can have an influence on the state of mind to improve emotional tension and anxiety, to induce a state of relaxation and aid sleep.
Physical ailments can also be eased as these techniques uses massage movements which although only applied to certain areas of the face relax the whole body. It is not uncommon for the patient to fall asleep during treatment as they unwind and relax.
Energy flows throughout the body via energy channels called meridians, and when the flow is blocked it puts the body in a state of dis-ease. With the use of slight pressure to the points on the face which relate to these meridians the energy can be released to flow again throughout the body. The state of balance is restored which can result in the relief of troublesome symptoms i.e. headaches and migraines, menopausal issues, PMT, irritable bowel, constipation, Parkinson’s, depression, MS and behavioural and learning issues in children.
